Imagine me, 10 years old, singing along to my favourite song, ‘Humphrey Owl’, from the movie Dirty Dancing. You don’t remember the song Humphrey Owl? Well imagine my absolute devastation to discover that it was not a song about Humphrey the Owl, but actually ‘Hungry Eyes’.
I’ve always had a rather active imagination, and felt compelled to make and create, whatever the medium. My practice began with Duplo in the early years, later discovering scissors, paper and glue, and then moved on to knitting and design. Nowadays my preference is for metalwork, beads and fabrics.
There’s nothing better than making something by hand, and owls or no, I hope to continue for a long time yet.
